BULK SAMPLING UNDERWAY ON DO18 KIMBERLITE PIPE
DHK - Diamond Exploration
Kennecott Canada Inc. reports drilling is underway to extract a 10 tonne sample using a large six inch diameter core to a depth of 250 meters and if required a smaller 4 inch core to a depth of 400 meters. Two holes will be drilled and the sample will be processed for diamond content in the Kennecott recovery plant at Yellowknife.
The D018 pipe is separate from the Tli Kwi Cho and located approximately 1000 feet to the north. Kimberlite in this pipe is less complex than that in the Tli Kwi Cho and is of a slightly different nature. The 677 diamonds previously recovered from a sample of 1,349kg of kimberlite from 2 inch drill cores exhibit a higher percentage of clear and colorless stones relative to the stones recovered from the Tli Kwi Cho.
Other DHK Property Information
Data from geophysical surveys recently conducted over suspected kimberlite targets is being processed.
Kennecott Options Further Interest in WO Block
DHK Resources Ltd. (owned 1/3 each by Dentonia Resources Ltd, Horseshoe Gold Mining and Kettle River Resources Ltd.) has agreed to Kennecott Canada Inc. earning an increased percentage interest in the WO claim block which, if exercised, would reduce the DHK interest to 27.6% from the present 35%. To earn this increased interest in the WO claim block, Kennecott will commit to certain expenditures and pay a cash bonus upon a production decision.
Southern BC - Exploration Activities - Gold
Field work is underway on three of the initial targets resulting from the winter compilation program. One initial target is a newly discovered pyrite fragmental breccia, exposed over a zone of 500 x 100 meters, and open in all directions. A 1968 drill hole by Granby Mining & Smelting tested this area, however most of this core was not sampled and has since been destroyed. In the portion sampled, a composite over 60 feet returned 0.01 opt gold. Surface samples from the breccia zone have been collected and permits submitted for a program of trenching to better define the extents of the unit.
A second target, this one ready for drill testing, is a copper/gold skarn with no previous drilling and is associated with a large gold soil anomaly. The skarn is exposed on surface over a strike of 700 meters, with a width in the gold zone of an estimated 100 meters.
The first drill program is planned for July and will test two or three targets in different areas.
Central BC - Silver Queen Mine (New Nadina Explorations Limited)
The results of a recently completed alteration, study of the property has defined an area of higher temperature alteration within the widespread argillic alteration zone. The association of unique clay minerals such as alumina rich illite with known gold zones is a breakthrough in this hydrothermally altered volcanic complex. The favorable zones are located in the southwest portion of the property in an area of prospective geology and structure, with known gold mineralization but little exploration and generally deep overburden. Drilling will begin in May.
