Commencement of Newnham Lake Drilling Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr Dale W. Hoffman, President of JNR Resources Inc. (the "Company"), is pleased to report that drilling has commenced at the Newnham Lake uranium property, on the northeast edge of the Athabasca Basin, about 75km east of Stony Rapids, in northern Saskatchewan. The drilling was preceded by ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys over geochemical anomalies identified by last summer's reconnaissance boulder lithogeochemical survey, which covered all ten of the Company's properties in the Basin. These properties, totaling in excess of 650,000 acres (250,000ha), were acquired in 1997 and are being explored under a strategic alliance between the Company and Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc..
Airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys (GEOTEM), totaling approximately 2,200 line-kilometres, are nearing completion over parts of the Key Lake, Cigar Lake North and West Bear properties, where significant clay alteration patterns and trace element enrichments were outlined by last summer's work program. Coincident geochemical and airborne geophysical anomalies will be checked by ground geophysics in order to prioritize drill targets for later in the winter.
Geochemical data compilation and interpretation for other properties in the Basin will be completed in the next few weeks, and will be used to identify areas for ground follow-up in the 1999 field season.
Further reports of progress on the Newnham Lake drill program and other properties will be released as information becomes available.
