SASKATOON, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - JNR Resources Inc. (TSXV:JNN) and Altius Minerals Corporation are pleased to report that an airborne geophysical survey by Aeroquest Ltd has been completed and that diamond drilling has resumed on their Rocky Brook uranium property located in western Newfoundland, Canada. Exploration at Rocky Brook is focused on the discovery of bedrock sources for two discrete high-grade boulder clusters in glacial till, with reported historical assays ranging from 1 per cent to more than 10 per cent uranium oxide (U(3)O(8)) as well as very high-grade silver contents.
The 2006 airborne geophysical program was completed in early July 2006, and consisted of approximately 1200-line km of radiometric, magnetic and electromagnetic surveying over the Rocky Brook claims. The program identified several prominent magnetic and radiometric anomalies in the areas of the historic Wigwam Brook, Birchy Hill Brook and Goose prospects, as well as a number of anomalous zones elsewhere. Of special significance are numerous magnetic susceptibility anomalies that occur in several specific areas. Uranium-mineralized boulders identified on the property to date exhibit elevated magnetic susceptibility; whilst the un-mineralized Humber Falls sandstone host exhibits no such magnetic signature.
The prospective geological, geochemical and geophysical features are currently being followed up by a 3000-metre diamond drilling program which began in mid July. Drilling will continue throughout the fall season and will test the Wigwam Brook and Goose boulder clusters as well as the Birchy Hill Brook prospect and other notable geophysical targets identified by the airborne survey. These are also the focus of prospecting activities. Evaluation and sampling of the core drilled to date is continuing, as is additional processing and interpretation of the airborne geophysical data. The results of this work will be released once the drilling program is completed and all of the pertinent data fully evaluated.
JNR's Exploration Manager, David L. Billard, PGeo, is the qualified person responsible for the technical data presented in this release. All technical information for the Company's exploration projects is obtained and reported under a formal quality assurance and quality control program, details of which are presented within a material change report filed on SEDAR on December 2, 2004, and on the Company's website at: www.jnrresources.com/i/pdf/JNR-QAQC.pdf.
