SASKATOON, Jan. 10 /CNW/ - JNR Resources Inc. (TSXV:JNN) (the 'Company') is pleased to announce that the 2007 exploration program is underway on the Company's 100% owned Way Lake uranium project, located 55 kilometres east of the Key Lake uranium mine in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan. The Way Lake project comprises 17 contiguous claims totalling 71,795 hectares.
The planned program is budgeted at $1.0 million and will consist of a minimum of 3,500 metres of diamond drilling and 100 kilometres of HLEM and ground magnetic surveys on four separate grids. All regulatory permits have been received.
The focus of attention will be the Hook Lake showing, which consists of a massive pitchblende vein and several proximal radioactive shears/fractures. Two grab samples collected from the vein returned 40.1% and 48% U3O8, while a soil sample overlying the vein assayed 27.8% U3O8. The uranium mineralization is also associated with significant lead (up to 8.8%), rare earth elements and thorium enrichment, and anomalous boron, cobalt and vanadium values (Reference: October 12, 2006 News Release).
The Company has also received preliminary results from a 5,500-line kilometre helicopter-borne VTEM survey flown this fall over the project lands. These results indicate some 50 kilometres of arcuate and structurally displaced conductors in the southwest portion of the property. The Hook Lake showing itself occurs in a magnetic low, adjacent to a magnetic high. Additional groundwork, including drilling, will be scheduled once the final interpretation has been received.
JNR's President, Richard T. Kusmirski, PGeo, and Exploration Manager, David L. Billard, PGeo, are the qualified persons responsible for the technical data presented in this release.
