Explor Acquires Moose Brook Copper Property (ccnm)
ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 8, 2008) - Explor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EXS) is pleased to announce the acquisition 16 mineral claims totalling 250 hectares, situated in Restigouche County, province of New Brunswick, known locally as the Moose Brook Group.
Explor Resources inc., will pay $25,000 CDN and issue 200,000 common shares for an Option to acquire 100% interest in the Moose Brook mineral claims. The Optionee has retained a 2.0% NSR in the property. This acquisition is subject to regulatory approval.
The Moose Brook Copper Property is located in Restigouche County, near Mount Carleton Provincial Park, 1.0 kilometer north of Mount Villebon and 3.0 kilometers south of Highway 180 in the province of New Brunswick. The property can be reached from Bathurst via Highway 180 on all weather gravel road to Saint Quentin, New Brunswick.
The Moose Brook copper occurrence is in a relatively unexplored part of northern New Brunswick, in Lower Devonian rocks of the Tobique Chaleurs Zone. Cu-sulphide mineralization occurs in a quartz stockwork that is hosted by a vitrophyric rhyolite flow. This rhyolite is intercalated with westerly-dipping, shallow marine sedimentary rocks. The rhyolite exhibits a well-developed tectonic fabric so it is probably synvolcanic. To the southwest felsic rocks become abundant whereas, to the east mafic rocks become volumetrically more significant. Grab samples collected from trenches have yielded up to 6 wt. % Cu. There is potential for a porphyry-Cu deposit at relatively shallow depth.
Explor plans on conducting a two phase exploration program. Phase I will consist of line cutting and geophysics to determine the location of the structural targets. Phase II will consist of diamond drilling the identified target or targets.
