Diagem International Resource Corp.: First Small Scale Mining Licenses Issued to Landowners Under Land Access Program; 3,530 Carats of Diamonds Recovered (ccnm)
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 22, 2004) - Diagem International Resource Corp. is pleased to announce important advancements in its recently adopted Landowner Access Program (the "Program"), in the Juina Diamondiferous Kimberlite and Gravel Province, Mato Grosso State, Brazil.
The first seven PLGs (small scale mining licenses) have been granted by the DNPM (Brazilian Nation Department of Mineral processing) to the first Landowners under the Program (see press release September 22). The occasion was marked by a celebration of Juina landowners to which Diagem representatives were invited to receive thanks from the Landowners for making the regularization of their mining operations possible. The Company believes that this reflects the beginning of a new era of cooperation and facilitation between landowners and the Company.
The Company is benefiting significantly from this program, as it begins to enjoy access to surface rights (farmlands) at an unprecedented rate in order to execute its own work programs. Furthermore, each active landowner provides a fresh source of geological information to add to the understanding of the relative concentrations and differences between diamond sources throughout the region, augmenting the Company's own activities in the search for further diamondiferous kimberlite and gravel deposits. Specifically, the Company has the right of first refusal to view and purchase diamonds from each of the landowners.
In the first week following the issuance of the PLGs the company acquired 3,530.01 carats of diamonds, from four landowners on three of the Company's Mineral Right Properties. One landowner recovered a 55 carat white/pink diamond, which was presented to the Company for viewing under the Land access agreement; however the company passed on acquiring this particular diamond. The sources of these diamonds were up to 50 kilometres apart from each other demonstrating the vastness of this diamond field.
