10:35 EDT Monday, May 09, 2005
MONTREAL (Business Wire) -- Diagem Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DGM) is pleased to announce that it has been granted a mining concession on its Property 214, now to be known as ML-214, located within the Juina diamondiferous kimberlite and gravel district in the northwestern part of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The mining concession permits mining of kimberlite and gravel deposits that have been proven to be payable over the entire 10,000 hectare property. The mineralized areas include the promising Collier-04 diamondiferous kimberlite body as well as several additional kimberlite occurrences and promising alluvial diamond deposits mostly all to be found in the Upper Chicoria Creek area.
Diagem has been seeking surface access with the owner of the land within which kimberlite pipe Collier-04 is located. The Company is already mobilizing the necessary mining equipment, a treatment plant, an electronic sorting equipment and other ancillary machinery to be ready to operate as soon as access has successfully been negotiated. Diagem has already obtained access within ML-214 to the Upper Chicoria Creek kimberlite and gravel deposits which include kimberlite pipes AC-01, AC-01A and JV 40. An additional number of recently discovered occurrences through the use of DIAGNOS technology will be bulk sampled as well as the gravel deposits derived from the erosion of all the pipes.
Mr. Claude Durocher has been appointed to the Board of Directors in the place of Mr. Pierre Gauthier, who recently resigned. Mr. Gauthier will continue to contribute his considerable experience and expertise as a consultant to Diagem.
Mr. Durocher has been a practicing geologist for over 30 years whose educational qualifications include an M.B.A. along with BSc. and MSc. degrees in geology. He is also an active member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO). During his career, Mr. Durocher has worked for various companies including Asbestos Corporation Ltd., Camflo Mines and Noranda Exploration Co. Ltd. With his exploration teams, he has been responsible for several discoveries, some of which are still in production.
