IBAMA Lifts Embargo: Diagem Activities Resume on Permit 213 (bwire)
MONTREAL (Business Wire) -- DIAGEM Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DGM) (the "Company" or "Diagem") announces that the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources ("IBAMA") has lifted the embargo previously imposed on the equipment and on the prospecting activities of the Company within Permit 213. Diagem expects to resume soon the experimental gravel mining activities that were interrupted by the embargo in November 2003. IBAMA had then contested the validity of the Company's experimental mining operations carried out under an experimental mining permit (guia) granted by the National Department of Mineral Exploration ("DNPM").
The Company will also engage in the evaluation of kimberlite pipe AC-02 which is a well known source of large diamonds found in the lower Chicoria Creek gravels. This will be done as soon as the equipment that had been left idle by the embargo is refurbished.
The arrangements made with IBAMA include a re-commitment to the execution of a Plan of Rehabilitation of the mined out areas to be completed over the next three years. In addition, Diagem must provide a Report of Environmental Control on a semi-annual basis.
