North Star Diamonds to Commence Mini-Bulk Sample on Zubkovich Property, Ukraine
- BusinessWire
BELLINGHAM, Wash., Sep 15, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- North Star Diamonds, Inc. (NQB Pink Sheets: NSDM) is pleased to report that the Company has initiated the commencement of a mini-bulk sample on the Zubkovich Property, Ukraine.
Positive exploration results from and the discovery of micro-diamonds and G10 garnets from ongoing fieldwork carried out on the Zubkovich area property have warranted the decision to commence a mini-bulk sample. The first mini-bulk sample undertaken by North Star will be approximately 5 tonnes and will be a program comprised of large diameter drill holes with sampling the core for diamonds. All previous holes drilled to date have been with a smaller diameter drill and larger drill cores will give the Company a more representative sample. The commencement of the mini-bulk sampling is expected to begin during the second half of October.
North Star Diamond's News Release of September 2nd, 2003 reported initial exploration results from previous fieldwork carried out on the Zubkovich area property, located in the northeastern part of the Novograd Volyn Project (approx. one million acres), one of three advanced stage diamond projects currently under exploration by the Company. Extensive historical sampling, geophysical and seismic work has been completed on this project. The Zubkovich area is distinguished by a number of circular geologic structures and a halo of diamond indicator minerals found in the alluvium of the Uborth River and its tributaries. Samples taken from these anomalies at various depths, ranging from 15 to 40 meters were sent for laboratory analysis. In 4 holes, samples of re-deposited weathered mafic and ultramafic rock were found. In addition to diamond indicator minerals, 4 micro-diamonds (diamonds less than .1 mm in size) were found.
In addition, North Star Diamond's News Release of September 10th, 2003 reported that initial laboratory results on Cr-garnets from recent samples acquired from the Novograd Volyn project were classified as G10 garnets which are a positive indicator mineral, commonly associated with diamondiferous kimberlite pipes that are found around the world. Previous garnets discovered on the Novograd Volyn project during prior drilling programs consisted of chrome content of more than 10%. Recent till sample have returned garnets, which have been analyzed to contain up to 11.8% Cr203. These high Cr203 sub-calcic garnets are often important diamond indicator minerals.
North Star Diamonds is a rapidly growing company focused on the discovery of commercial diamond deposits in Ukraine. North Star Diamonds has exceptional land holdings and a highly skilled management and technical team respected for breaking new ground in the highly competitive diamond industry. The Company's shares trade on the OTC Pink Sheets under the symbol NSDM.
