Star Kimberlite Project- Drill Program Update
Jonathan Challis, President, is pleased to report that three NQ sized diamond drill holes have now been completed as part of the Phase 2 drill program that was initiated at the end of last year. This part of the program is designed to test the continuity of the kimberlite body outside the existing defined boundaries of the deposit, as well as to provide additional geological information on certain areas within the drill defined kimberlite structure.
The first hole, Star 017 was collared approximately 400 metres north of hole 96-2 and intersected 31.4 metres of kimberlite. The second hole, Star 018 was collared approximately 400 metres east of Star 017 and intersected 46.7 metres of kimberlite. Star 019 was collared approximately 450 metres southeast of Star 018 (and approximately 625 metres east of hole 96-2) and intersected 25.5 metres of kimberlite.
These holes were drilled as a result of a geophysical survey that was conducted during the Phase 1 drill program in areas that appeared to show potential (as previously disclosed). That potential has now been confirmed, increasing the defined area of the Star Kimberlite where intersections have exceeded 30 metres to approximately 4 square kilometres. The core has been logged and the kimberlite appears to be identical to that found during the previous drill programs.
Splitting and sampling of the core is in progress, with processing to take place at independent laboratories in Canada.
