SHORE APPOINTS PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENTS
The Board of Directors of Shore Gold Inc. ("Shore" or the "Company") is pleased to announce today that Kenneth E. MacNeill has been appointed President of the Company. Mr. MacNeill was previously the President and C.E.O. of Shore from February 15, 1994 until June 25, 1999 and has continued to serve as Chairman and C.E.O. of the Company since then. The Board of Directors is also pleased to announce two new additions to the senior management team. Mr. George H. Read will join Shore as Vice President Exploration and Mr. George Sanders assumes the position of Vice President Corporate Development.
Mr. Read is a diamond exploration geologist with over 19 years of international experience, most recently as President and C.E.O. of Canabrava Diamond Corporation. He will be responsible for all aspects of geologic management of the bulk sample program with particular emphasis on sampling and reporting procedures. Prior to immigrating to Canada in 1997, George spent 12 years with De Beers, where he studied kimberlites at several diamond mines in South Africa and Botswana and was involved with diamond exploration projects worldwide. Mr. Read is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (BSc. Hons., 1983), a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and a Professional Geoscientist registered in the Province of British Columbia.
Mr. Sanders will be responsible for corporate development activities, corporate communications, managing strategic partner relationships, as well as managing Shore’s portfolio of gold assets. George has 25 years experience as a mining analyst, stockbroker specializing in resource issues, and in managing a range of exploration finance activities. From 1987 to 1994 he served as Mining Assistant to the Chairman, at a major independent Canadian investment dealer. He later held the position of Director of Corporate Development for Richmont Mines Inc. during 1995-1996, where he was responsible for Western Canadian and US acquisitions as well as liaison activity with analysts and institutional investors.
Through the first nine months of 2003 Shore has completed $4 million in financings, made excellent progress on its bulk sample program and added two senior mining executives to the Board of Directors. The rounding out of the management team reflects the Board’s ongoing desire to successfully transform the Company from diamond explorer to an advanced stage exploration and development company.
The Board of Directors wish to thank Mr. Jonathan Challis, former President and Director, for his contributions to the Company over the past four years and wish him success in his future endeavours.
