Tres Marias Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico - Initial Program Underway Which Includes Diamond Drilling
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vancouver, B.C. - War Eagle Mining Company Inc. (TSX Venture Exchange -- WAR) Repairs to 25 Km of the mine access road have been completed. In addition, an airborne survey will be completed by February 4th, which will allow for detailed survey control and geological mapping to commence. Also, the underground workings will be surveyed in preparation for underground geological mapping and intensive sampling. Previous sampling indicated grades of 15-20% Zinc, 2.5% lead and 200 - 400 g/ton germanium. This information will be used to calculate currently accessible ore and will serve as a guide for exploration beyond the workings.
In conjunction with the geological mapping a geophysical program is being planned for April, along with a diamond drilling program to explore other targets located along strike where mineralized showings are located over a distance of 1 Km. Samples from the La Blanca showing located 600 meters from the Tres Marias shaft have assayed 26-29% Zinc, 0.2-2.3% lead, 110-190 g/ton germanium. These samples were taken over a 20 meter width.
The Tres Marias Mine, located in eastern Chihuahua has produced approximately 125,000 tonnes of high-grade ore to date which averaged 24% Zinc, 2.5% lead, and 400 g/ton germanium. Gregory F. Smith, B.Sc., P.Geo, reports that the mine has a potential resource for up to 10 million tonnes of ore. The current work program is the initial phase of a planned $1.5 million USD scoping or pre feasibility study.
Tres Marias Property consists of nine concessions covering a total of 2831 hectares. The Claims cover all known mineral showings in the immediate area of the Tres Marias Mine. War Eagle Mining has acquired an option from Tombstone Explorations Co. Ltd. to purchase 100% of the Tres Marias Mine. For further information contact: Bob Faris, Vice President, Corporate Development at 1-800-877-1626 or 604-606-7973.
