WORK PROGRAM AND COMPANY UPDATE
Neil Yingling, President, is pleased to present the following progress report on the Company's activities this summer:
Candle Lake Diamond Project
Drill hole WSL-10 is currently drilling in kimberlite on Pipe 29/30 on the Candle Lake property located in north-central Saskatchewan. This is the third drill hole in the program being carried out to satisfy the Company's work commitment under the joint venture agreement (GWG 80%) with War Eagle Mining Company Inc.
Both WSL-9 and WSL-10 were spotted in the southeast portion of 29/30 to infill the half-kilometre gap between WSL-3, drilled in 1994, and Kennecott Canada Inc.'s CL95-09, drilled in 1995. WSL-9 intersected 75 m of kimberlite, making it one of the best 5 intersections of 16 holes completed to date.
WSL-8 was a step-out hole collared approximately 200 m east of the known boundary of 29/30 over a weak magnetic and resistivity anomaly. This hole failed to intersect any significant thickness of kimberlite giving rise to speculation that a much stronger resistivity anomaly another 700 m east could represent a separate kimberlite from 29/30. This target will be tested in a winter drill program to lessen land disturbance.
Core logging and sampling of the HQ-size core (2.5 inches diameter) is underway with samples being shipped to the Saskatchewan Research Council laboratory in Saskatoon for processing by caustic dissolution.
Hoidas Lake Rare Earth Project
Regional geological mapping of the Hoidas Lake property has been completed and rock samples collected show that the same rock assemblage hosting the JAK zone of rare earth mineralization is present 3 km along-strike at the south end of Hoidas Lake where a number of old trenches containing high-grade rare earth mineralization are known to exist.
Metallurgical testwork was on-going through June and July by Sierra Mineral Management in California. The 2002 Phase I work was successful in producing a mixed-rare earth powder from the JAK zone samples and details will be reported once the final report is received. Additional sampling is underway at Hoidas this week to provide material for the 2002 Phase II metallurgical work, which will commence immediately and is designed to test methods to separate the individual rare earth elements.
Corporate
The Company is currently in the process of incorporating Great Western Diamonds Corp. (“GWD”) and Great Western Minerals (USA) Inc. (”GWM”) as wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Company. GWD will hold the Company's interest in the Candle Lake and Colorado diamond projects and GWM(USA) will hold the Company's US copper/gold properties.
Further reports will be issued once project results are received.
