NAME CHANGE TAKES EFFECT
Neil Yingling, President, is very pleased to announce that effective at the opening of trading August 14, 2002, the common shares of Great Western Gold Corp. (TSX:GWG) are retired and replaced by common shares in the Company trading under the new name, Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. Shares will trade under our familiar trading symbol, “GWG” on the Toronto Venture Exchange (TSX) with no consolidation of capital.
The name change is pursuant to a Special Resolution passed by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held June 20, 2002.
The new name better reflects the Company's plans for growth and an expanding, diverse portfolio of mineral projects which now includes rare earth and associated strategic metals, diamonds, copper and gold.
The Company has completed incorporation and registration of two wholly-owned subsidiary companies: Great Western Diamond Corp (“GWD”), now registered in British Columbia and Great Western Minerals USA, Inc. (“GWM”), incorporated and registered in the State of Nevada. As noted in the company news announcement of August 7, 2002, GWD is intended to hold the Company's interest in the Candle Lake and Colorado diamond projects and GWM(USA) will hold the Company's U.S. copper/gold and rare earth properties.
