Great Western Diamonds Corp.: Consultants Contracted
14:26 EST Wednesday, November 09, 2005
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (Business Wire) -- Great Western Diamonds Corp (TSX VENTURE:GWD) and Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GWG) (OTCBB:GWMGF)
The Company reports that it has signed an engagement letter with Mineral Services Canada Inc. to provide professional and laboratory services to the Company with respect to the Candle Lake diamond project in central Saskatchewan.
The Mineral Services group, headed by Dr. John Gurney (Chairman) and Dr. Rory Moore (CEO), comprises over 80 personnel consulting to the diamond industry worldwide.
Geologists from Mineral Services have completed preliminary logging of the existing Candle Lake kimberlite core and have presented the Company with a comprehensive logging and sampling protocol that will be implemented in all future work on the project. The Candle Lake kimberlite has not been tested in a uniform and systematic manner and management is pleased to be working with Mineral Services in this regard.
The Candle Lake project consists of two diamond-bearing kimberlite bodies, C28 and C29/30, located immediately north of the Fort a la Corne kimberlite field in Saskatchewan. A delineation drilling program was initiated earlier in 2005, using PQ-size core drilling. This program will be continued through the winter of 2005/2006.
The Candle Lake kimberlite, currently designated as Cantuar in age, has produced diamond counts, projected grades (from core samples), and diamond quality similar to that encountered at Fort a la Corne. Management believes that an aggressive exploration and development program applying appropriate and consistent sampling methods will significantly enhance project results.
Great Western Diamonds Corp., a 43%-owned subsidiary of Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (TSX-V: "GWG"), owns and operates the Candle Lake property.
