EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 1995--Preliminary results of the summer exploration program on Petro Plus Inc.'s 100% Owned Devil's Property have been received.
A three-month program involving reconnaissance sampling, prospecting, overburden stripping and geological mapping along 2400 metres of the THOMAS POND SHEAR has returned very encouraging results.
At the PIT ZONE 1780 square metres of overburden was removed to expose 100 metre strike length of mineralized bedrock. Channel samples were then cut from the surface above the 1995 drill holes, with values as follows: -0-
PIT-DL95-C4A+B: 0.203 oz/ton gold over 4.0 feet (1.2m) (above Hole 95-12: 0.39 oz/ton gold over 4.0 feet (1.2m)) PIT-DL95-C6: 0.131 oz/ton gold over 2.6 feet (0.8m) (above Hole 95-14: 0.043 oz/ton gold over 3.6 feet (1.0m)) PITNE-DL95-C1: 0.039 oz/ton gold over 4.6 feet (1.4m) (above Hole 95-16: 0.08 oz/ton gold over 6.6 feet (2.0m))
Anomalous rock samples (0.286, 0.012, 0.027, 0.014, 0.058 and 0.035 oz/ton gold) 300 meters along strike, south-west of the PIT ZONE led to the discovery of SW-2, where 2362 square metres of overburden was removed to expose over 125 metres strike length of mineralized bedrock. Values from the surface channel samples are as follows: -0-
SW2-DL95-C1: 0.084 oz/ton gold over 2.6 feet (0.8m) SW2-DL95-C8: 0.044 oz/ton gold over 5.3 feet (1.6m) SW2-DL95-C17: 0.652 oz/ton gold over 3.3 feet (1.0m) SW2-DL95-C24: 0.103 oz/ton gold over 2.3 feet (0.7m)
700 and 2200 metres south-west of the PIT ZONE, grab rock samples returned values of 0.168, 0.015 oz/ton gold and 0.093, 0.063, 0.16 oz/ton gold, respectively. These new areas must be followed up.
All channel samples reported were analyzed using the metallic total gold method, whereby the total sample is pulverized and fire assayed. A regular fire assay uses a representative split of the sample to determine the ounce per ton value. Experience from past producing gold mines in the La Ronge gold belt has shown that the total metallic gold fire assay gives a more reliable estimate of the true gold content than do the "regular" fire assays.
The company plans to carry out an aggressive drill program in early 1996, designed to test the PIT ZONE at depth and the extensions of the THOMAS POND SHEAR, along strike to the south-west. -0-
