9/13/2004 : HATCH PREVAILS AT VEGAS ASA Speed Truck driver Lee Hatch drove his No. 91 CMKXtreme.com/BHRM Motorsports Ford Ranger to his eleventh win of the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring Saturday night.
Hatch started on pole and led the field of 28 ASA Speed Trucks for almost the entire race dominating the 75-lap main event. On lap 63, the No. 21 of John Burritt gave Hatch a run for his money as he captured the lead shortly after a late race caution. Hatch displayed his smooth and persistent driving style once again to pull off a pass in Turn 4 on the last lap taking the checkered flag. Fans jumped to their feet to witness the incredible close finish of the three top trucks of Hatch, Clark and Burritt.
“This was the most exciting race of the season,” said Hatch. “I enjoy this track very much so and it was good to race with Burritt again. We have a great group of guys in our series and I think we put on an awesome show for the fans tonight. It was a blast out there.”
With this win Hatch now has a 100-point lead in the chase for the 2004 ASA Speed Truck Championship. His goal is to win back-to-back championships, which has never been done in the history of the series.
“Tonight was a great point’s night for us,” replied Hatch. “I want to thank my team for all there hard work and my sponsors for making our success possible. Every win means so much and we work very hard to earn them.”
