11/6/2004 : HATCH WINS ASA SPEED TRUCK CHAMPIONSHIP
UPLAND, California -- — Lee Hatch, driver of the No. 91 BHRM Motorsports/CMKXtreme.com Ford claimed the 2004 ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series Championship Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring. This is the first ever back-to-back Championship ever accomplished in this series. For the 150-lap main event, Hatch took the checkered flag in the first 75-lap segment and brought home an overall third place finish after the final 75 laps.
“We have had a phenomenal year,” said Hatch. “This was definitely a team effort to get the results we did. My crew and I put a lot of time and heart into this No. 91 team. We pay close attention to detail and work long hours trying to gain perfection. I am so happy for the team and my sponsors to win this honor two years in a row. I want to thank Jay Rutherford for promoting such an incredible racing series and getting us televised race coverage this year. As for the race, we had a great run tonight. The truck was handling great for the first 75 laps and I was able to secure the lead. After we pitted the truck became very loose for the second 75 laps. I raced hard and I’m very happy with our third place finish.”
After winning 12 of the 16 races contested this season, Hatch still has high hopes to bring home another victory from the last race of the season. The series will travel to the Lucus Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif. to compete in a 100-lap televised event on November 13th.
“I’m looking forward to the last race of the season,” said Hatch. “Even though we secured the championship for the season already, my team and I will put as much time and effort as we do for every race trying to win at Blythe.
Special thanks to all the BHRM Motorsports sponsors for the 2004 ASA Speed Truck Championship: CMKXtreme.com, Wentzell Equipment Rental, RG Motorsports, Faust Printing, Speedway Transmissions and Parker Pumper.
