3/11/2005 : Cohen eager to begin the season on her new CMKXtreme Suzuki

GAINESVILLE, pre-race: CMKXtreme Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Connie Cohen will debut a brand new Suzuki at the 36th annual NHRA Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., March 17-20.The event marks the first of 15 national events on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series tour featuring the popular Pro Stock Bike class.
For the first time in her career Cohen will race the entire season with the backing of a major sponsor, CMKX Diamonds. Cohen and her husband and crew chief, Marc, competed at all 15 national events on the NHRA Pro Stock Bike schedule last season. The couple secured the backing of CMKX at the St. Louis race and Cohen promptly qualified for first NHRA national event two races later in Sonoma.
Cohen, who earned her Super Comp license following the NHRA Finals last November, will begin the year in Gainesville riding a brand new 2005 TL1000 Suzuki. The new bike features a Kosman chassis and was prepared by her husband Marc during the off-season.
“We’re very excited about running the new CMKXtreme bike in Gainesville,” Cohen said enthusiastically. “It’s great to start the season with the strong support of Urban and Ron Casavant and the legion of CMKX shareholders. We put in a lot of time and effort in preparation for the new season and we’re eager to begin racing in Florida.”
Cohen, will join CMKXtreme Racing teammate, Jeff Arend, and drivers from the GM Racing team on a visit to Shands Hospital in Gainesville on Thursday, March 17. The pair will visit with patients and sign autographs while handing out CMKXtreme Racing merchandise.
