4/4/2005 : Cohen looking to continue to get quicker in Texas
HOUSTON, pre-race: CMKXtreme Pro Stock Motorcycle rider, Connie Cohen, is looking forward to the 18th annual NHRA O’Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park. Cohen made the quickest run of her career at the famous Texas facility last year and she’s hoping to do the same at this season’s event, the second of 15 races for the Pro Stock Bike class on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series tour.
Cohen made only three runs on her new CMKXtreme TL1000 Suzuki at the Pro Stock Bike season-opener in Gainesville three weeks ago. With her husband and crew chief, Marc Cohen, still working out all of the new bike bugs, Cohen improved on her career-best elapsed time twice during qualifying, including a 7.183, her quickest run ever. Despite missing the field, Cohen was encouraged by the run.
“We improved almost two-tenths of a second from our performance in Gainesville last year,” said Cohen as she prepared to travel to the Lone Star state. “We only made three runs on the CMKXtreme Suzuki but we saw enough to indicate that we’re headed in the right direction. I made my best run ever last season in Houston and I feel confident that we can repeat that feat again this year. We’re looking forward to seeing all the CMKX fans and shareholders in Texas and we’ll do our best to put on a good show for them.”<br>
Cohen will be participating in the inaugural NHRA Fan Appreciation night, Thursday, April 7 at Houston Raceway Park from 5-8 p.m. (CT). Prior to the opening round of professional qualifying on Friday, Cohen will join CMKX teammates Jeff Arend and Tony Bartone on a visit with patients at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
