The ASA Speed Truck Challenge will race round #5 of #14 Saturday night May 28th at Mesa Marin Raceway for broadcast on the Outdoor Channel.
With 4 races completed for the 2005 season, the ASA Speed Truck Challenge returns to Mesa Marin Raceway with 36 Speed Trucks pre-registered to film race #5 for the Outdoor Channel. The first 4 races from Irwindale Speedway, Mesa Marin Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway are complete and ready to deliver to the Outdoor Channel for national broadcast beginning July 23rd at 8:00 PM PST.
The Rookie of the Year contenders remain top seated in the Championship Points battle with 7 Rookies in the top 10 and 10 Rookies in the top 20. Rookie Kyle Cattanach in the #59 Broken Bow Records, Corning Ford & Mercury, Fast Track Food & Fuel Dodge Dakota holds 2003 and 2004 series Champion #91 Lee Hatch out by 8 points but, Rookie Matt Jaskol in the #03 United Nissan sponsored Speed Truck is only 6 points behind Hatch’s Ford Ranger sponsored by CMKXtreme.com. The last race at Mesa Marin Raceway on April 23rd saw Cattanch’s Speed Truck in the winner circle. That win propelled Kyle to the first place points position after a 5th place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which by the way, resulted in the closest finish in ASA Speed Truck Challenge history. Alex Haase’s #66 Ford Ranger with Star Nursery, Kyle Bush Motorsports and Enterprise Rent-A-Car on board, was edged out by .015 seconds on a last lap, last turn pass by veteran Lee Hatch.
Other Rookie notables are #92 Matt Daly in the Go Fast Sports Ford Ranger holding the 5th position in Championship Points. But, look at the Rookie Points leaders and you have Justin Fisher in the #1 Iron Eagle Chopper, Arrowlane Racing & Restoration Toyota Tacoma out by only 2 Rookie Points against Matt Jaskol, followed by Cattanach, Haase and Scott Dodd in the #9 Luke’s Transmission Chevy.
