SEATTLE, qualifying: Tony Bartone qualified in the No. 12 position for the 18th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Seattle. Bartone, who is making his 50th start in fuel Funny Car, used the strength of his opening qualifying run to make the 16-car field.
The Jim Dunn Racing team proudly welcomed aboard SOOoo Good International in Seattle as a major associate sponsor on the Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil Funny Car. SOOoo Good is a distributor of world famous gourmet coffee, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and fine cigars from Hawaii.
"It was another solid qualifying effort for the Jim Dunn Racing team here in Seattle, No. 12 with a 4.87 at 310 mph," said Bartone. "It's a great way to celebrate my 50th start. I want to thank all the CMKX shareholders who showed up this weekend to support the team. We're also proud to welcome SOOoo Good International as a new major associate sponsor. We are going to do our best to put on a great show for all of our supporters on Sunday."
Andy Hill, Investor Relations contact for CMKM Diamonds, was thrilled with his first experience at an NHRA national event. "This has been a fantastic day," said Hill. "The opportunity to come down and help Ron Casavant greet the shareholders and enjoy a day at the races has been a great experience. I had a chance to go down to the starting line, and your teeth definitely shake."
The Jim Dunn pit area was overflowing on Saturday with excited CMKX shareholders. Glenn Smith made the trip all the way from Alaska to show his support for the team. "This is a really exciting environment and a great opportunity to get out and meet all the shareholders and experience the racing up close." Scott Donaldson, from nearby Tacoma, was also enjoying the race. "This is excellent," offered Donaldson, "this is my second time at the races and it didn't shock me as much as it did last year. I love CMKX!
