Bartone qualifies the Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil car solidly in the field at Brainerd
BRAINERD, qualifying: Tony Bartone continued his recent string of strong qualifying efforts by making the field for the 24th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota. The driver of the Jim Dunn Racing/Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil Funny Car will face Gary Scelzi in round one of eliminations on Sunday.
Bartone recorded a 4.999 at 293.28 mph to grab the No. 5 qualifying spot during Friday's opening pro session. The driver of the Got CMKX/?Lucas Oil Funny Car improved on the next two qualifying runs with a 4.878 at 313.73 mph and a 4.843 at 312.06 mph to finish qualifying in the No. 12 spot.
"Jim Dunn and the crew have been doing great, they've been making my job look easy, and it's been sooo good." said Bartone. "We've been qualifying strong and now we'll concentrate on going rounds on Sunday. We're shooting for a Top 10 finish in the POWERade point chase and a victory here in Brainerd would go a long way to making that a reality."
