Explor Resources Inc.: Drilling to Commence on La Morandiere Property, Quebec (ccnm)
LA RONGE, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 17, 2004) - Explor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EXS) wishes to announce the start of a 1,500 metre (4,920 ft) diamond drilling program on its La Morandiere copper-zinc-silver property in Quebec.
During the month of November and in preparation for this program, the Corporation established grid lines, conducted a magnetic survey and completed a Pulse-EM survey in drill hole RH-01-99. This hole had intersected a 30 metre (98.4 ft) zone (true thickness) which was anomalous in copper, zinc and silver as disclosed in our May 27, 2004 press release.
A study of the geochemical analysis results on drill core from this hole established the presence of alteration minerals pyrophyllite, chlorite and sericite in concentrations reaching 7%, 47% and 23% respectively. This is a good indication that the geology is very favourable for Abitibi-type volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits, as such concentrations of pyrophyllite and chlorite are usually only found in close proximity to VMS type deposits.
Preliminary results of the Pulse-Electromagnetic survey (which can detect conductive minerals within a 125-metre radius around a surveyed hole) indicates an off-hole anomaly to the East of hole RH-01-99.
The present diamond drill program will test the extensions of the Cu-Zn-Ag zone intersected at a vertical depth of 150 metres (492 ft) in hole RH-01-99. Three holes at a 100 metre (328 ft) spacing will test the eastern and western extensions of the mineralized zone, also at a vertical depth of 150 metres. Two holes will then test this zone at a vertical depth of 300 metres (984 ft).
Exploration work is under the supervision of Mr. Robert J. Tremblay, P.Geo., a qualified person.
