One of the most overlooked aspects of life is how we deal with fear, If you never have fear, you can't learn courage. If you aren't ever afraid, you probably aren't learning much about yourself either.
How else can you learn what is good, what is safe, unless you have a mechanism in place, that will automatically sort out the harmful things. After all, most would not have the common sense to recognize danger, unless the body understands and warns us that the event the situation is a possible threat.
Bottom line, a threat is anything we aren't sure that we can handle successfully and where blowing it could be a bad thing. Threats can be things like being hurt or being robbed, or they can be things like being embarrassed. We get afraid that people will think less of us if we mess up. Right now, with the closure coming for CMKX, many are filled with various levels of fear and we are all reacting in our own way to the stress that accompanies the fear of the unknown.
The bad part of fear, is that it doesn't tell you what to do next. For this, you still have to think, and that can be hard thing to do, on many levels when logic and common sense are supplanted by emotions Consider this guys, we can't stop having fear, but we can control how we react to it. Since fears are a natural part of you, if you can just accept them, then you can do something about them.
They don't have to control you. When you take time to understand where your fear is coming from, it's often not so big. With practice, you become someone who can face fear. You become truly courageous. You become calm, confident, and capable.
Starting tomorrow, we will be placed in a position to communicate and share our feelings, convey information and evoke understanding. We may speak, write, hell some may use hand signals or communicate using body language (j/k). But one thing is certain, we will all be tasked with communicating our thoughts after tomorrow.
Just remembers, when we communicate, we show the world exactly who we really are, so be sure that what you communicate tomorrow and thereafter, that is it in fact the message you want to express.
So I would offer this advice, for what its worth, think and express your thoughts and needs clearly, in order to be understood, in that way, you will get your point across, conversations or discussions without it becoming heated, or a full-blown argument.
After all, I have relegated myself to simply reading and listening which I feel is just as effective when formulating an idea. Hey it never hurts to let others talk before we try to articulate how we feel on the subject.
In fact, if you let others express their point of view, you may often find they’re saying pretty much the same thing as you are. By continuing to communicate rationally, all parties involved can get their needs met – or at least reach a compromise. With a little practice and a lot of patience, i’s not as difficult as you may think.
Where we are now and after tomorrow may bring about stress and change. Might I suggest the following tips that I use and which I think you can do to improve how you handle the upcoming stress. Nothing fancy, or earth shaking, just simple methods that only involve common sense. After all, it’s common knowledge that when we are under stress, thing scan get real complicated really fast…so the concept of KISS is one that I believe in…
1.Get organized, Take better control of the ways you spend your time and energy.
2.Take control, Stay away from people who make you doubt your decision to quit drinking, using drugs, or gambling.
3.Stay in touch, Feeling alone or distant from other people can be a source of stress. Stay in touch with the people who support your decision to quit.
4.Get strong, Being in good physical condition helps you stand up under stress.
5.Have a laugh, Everyday, you need to find something that makes you laugh. Laughter releases tension: just try to chuckle with a clenched jaw.
6.Take it easy, Do something relaxing for 20 minutes each day. When you're relaxed, you can think more clearly and make better choices.
Be well amigos..
