Hey all,.. I know you are not all from Canada but this is going out to as many people as I can think of for the better cause. I want the world to know what is happening and why it is happening. I want this to change and this is the only way I know how.
Send this on to as many people as you want to spread the word and make sure our soliders in Canada are not forgotten.
No Respect for the Soldiers?
I recently woke up not long ago about a policy change I slept through, in the way our new government plans to deal with deaths overseas. The War on terrorism is a long hard battle where we will have blood shed. This is expected. The Government wants us to forget about soliders lost and pretend that it is not happening, or at least this is what I assume they want from the decisions made.
Not lowering a flag in respect for a fallen solider.
Harper said the policy has been implemented to respect the privacy of the families. This policy set forth basically states that not only will there not be media coverage of bodies being flown back home but that there will no longer be a flag in Canada raised to half mast as this appears to bring too much attention to the families involved." It is not about photo ops and media coverage," Harper said during Question Period, after being slammed by opposition members over the new policy. "It's about what's in the best interests of the families." Do I agree with this? Well I do agree that families should not be bothered and questioned about their lost ones when this happens however I strongly disagree that they should not be lowering the flag in respect for the fallen soldiers.
I feel that the lack of lowering the flag is like spitting the soldiers face after all they have done for us. I have family in the military as do most in Canada and the United States and we all know there is very little done for our soldiers as it is. Why would our government not want us to know or remember our fallen soldiers? I want to see this reversed and I want to see it changed now. Yes lets respect the families and not interview them afterwards,.. Sure I get that ... but not lowering the flag? Come on. What kind of government support are we trying to show here?
