SASKATOON, SK, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - JNR Resources Inc. (TSXV:JNN) (the 'Company') is pleased to announce that airborne EM and magnetic surveys are underway on the Company's 100% owned Crackingstone and Newnham Lake uranium projects, located in northern Saskatchewan.
The 10,665-hectare Crackingstone project is located near Uranium City, adjacent to the north rim of the Athabasca Basin. Historic work on the property dates back to the 1950's and 1960's and was largely focused on the two southern claims that cover the Crackingstone Peninsula. During that time period the Gulch deposit and about 12 uranium showings were discovered.
The 27,723-hectare Newnham Lake project is located on the northeastern margin of the Athabasca Basin, approximately 50 kilometres east of the historic Nisto uranium deposit. The property was acquired by staking after a review of historic work identified a number of geological, geophysical and geochemical features typical of unconformity-type uranium deposits.
JNR has contracted Geotech Ltd. to fly a 1,350 line-kilometre survey over the Crackingstone property using their helicopter-borne VTEM system. At Newnham Lake, Fugro Airborne Surveys Corp. is flying a 900 line-kilometre helicopter-borne DIGHEM EM survey over the project's two northeastern claims, the other seven claims having been flown last fall. Ground geophysical surveys are also underway at Newnham over select targets identified by the earlier airborne survey.
Follow-up exploration programs on the Crackingstone and Newnham Lake projects in 2006-07 will in part be contingent upon the results of the ongoing work and reported on at a later date.
Richard T. Kusmirski, PGeo, and David L. Billard, PGeo, are the Company's qualified persons responsible for the technical data presented in this release. For more information, visit the Company's website at www.jnrresources.com.
