Explor Starts Phase IV Exploration Program Eastford Lake Gold Project (ccnm)
ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2008) - Explor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EXS) is pleased to announce that the Phase IV Exploration Program has been started on the Eastford Lake Gold Property. The property is situated in the Kerrs, Warden, Milligan Townships and the Rayner Lake area, south-west of Lake Abitibi, Ontario in the Timmins-Porcupine mining camp. The Eastford Lake Property consists of 194 contiguous unpatented mining units for a total of 3,104 hectares.
Phase III drilling completed by September 2007 tested six geophysical targets along a major fault like structure confirmed the presence of gold bearing rock and structures typical of world class gold camps. The drilling confirmed mafic and ultramafic volcanics as well as multiple intrusions of quartz-feldspar-porphyry. Strong anomalous gold values increasing and trending to the northeast were intersected (0.4 g/t-0.8 g/t-1.3 g/t over 1 m length).
Soil gas hydrocarbon (SGH) analysis has been conducted on the Eastford Lake Gold Property. This method has been successfully used to show the presence of deeply buried mineral deposits (Canadian Mineral Research Agency Organization Project 1997). This method was selected for the property because of the deep overburden (up to 90 metres in depth). A gold signature was found on the over a length of 800 metres and a width of 200 metres. The geochemical targets are coincident with airborne EM's and on the nose of a fold of the magnetic signature on the property. Actlabs who conducted the analysis have rated the gold signature obtained with a rating of 5 on a scale of 1 to 6.
The drill has been mobilized on January 07, 2008 to test the targets that are north east of the major porphyry zone. The porphyry up to 250 meters in thickness was discovered during the Phase III drilling program. Deep drift/overburden cover (up to 90m) makes drilling and exploration of the fault like structure difficult.
