Shane Grants Options to First Labrador Acquisitions Inc.
Rick Walker, President of Shane Resources Ltd., announces that the Company, together with United Carina Resources Corp. ("Carina") and Consolidated Pine Channel Gold Corp. ("Pine Channel"), have granted an option to First Labrador Acquisitions Inc. ("First Labrador") whereby First Labrador can earn up to a 50% interest in mineral claims S-134454 and S-134455 (the "Property") situated in the Fort a la Corne area of Saskatchewan. The Company, Carina and Pine Channel each hold an undivided 1/3 interest in the Property. The option, which is subject to the acceptance of the Canadian Venture Exchange, provides that First Labrador can earn a 50% interest in the Property by completing a $300,000 work program on the Property, or by making payment of that amount.
The Property is contiguous to the block of ground that contains the De Beers Canada Exploration Inc/Cameco Corporation/Kensington Resources Ltd. kimberlite body #122. By press release issued March 13, 2001, Kensington Resources Ltd. announced that kimberlite body #122 is estimated to contain in excess of 540 million tonnes of kimberlite. It also reported the successful completion of the first part of a two-part drill program, which confirmed the nature of the diamond size frequency in kimberlite body #122. The second part of their program will be to recover enough stones to allow preliminary revenue modelling to be done. Shane, Carina, Pine Channel and First Labrador will attempt to determine whether part of kimberlite body #122 extends onto the Property, and whether the Property contains other kimberlite bodies.
Carina and Pine Channel control over 100,000 acres of ground in the Saskatchewan Diamond Belt where, to date, over 70 kimberlite pipes have been identified, and have recently completed a high resolution aeromagnetic survey over approximately 60,000 acres of the ground. A detailed gravity survey and a diamond drill program were conducted by the Company, Carina and Pine Channel on the Smeaton project in November and December of 2000. The Company has a 100% interest in approximately 60,000 acres in the Fort a la Corne area.
