- Teams with Diamonds for Humanity(TM) to launch jewelry collection at Lincoln Center gala
NEW YORK, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The first diamond jewelry line to feature cultured diamonds will be launched on April 13, 2005 at the Lincoln Center. Diamonds for Humanity(TM) debuts its diamond, platinum, and gold jewelry collection featuring both origin-certified Gemesis Cultured Diamonds(TM) and Tundra Canadian white diamonds. The event will auction 37 designs ranging in price from $5,000 to $200,000, including a magnificent 27 carat, yellow and white diamond necklace set in platinum. Emmy-award-winning talk show host Montel Williams is the master of ceremonies and musical guests include acclaimed jazz trumpeter Chris Botti (http://www.chrisbotti.com).
Consumer awareness and demand for fancy colored diamonds has grown significantly over the past five years, especially with the attention generated by major celebrities, such as Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez and Halle Berry, who have been recipients of these rare gems. But mined fancy colored diamonds, ranging from canary yellow to pink to blue diamonds, like the world- famous Hope Diamond, can range in price from $20,000 to $200,000 per carat, well outside the reach of most consumers. Gemesis-created diamonds provide consumers access to the rarity and elegance only fancy colored diamonds offer.
"We chose Gemesis Cultured Diamonds(TM) as our launch partner for the purity their diamonds represent, as well as the design options their rare colors afford," said Sabiha Foster, founder of Diamonds for Humanity.
By emulating the natural growth process that occurs 100 miles below the earth's surface, Gemesis creates fancy colored diamonds that possess the same DNA structure as earth-mined diamonds. Each Gemesis Cultured Diamond(TM) has the unique and individual characteristics of fire, brilliance, carat weight, hardness and durability found in earth-mined diamonds. Their authenticity is certifiable by major gemological laboratories, including EGL USA. Gemesis has created a new diamond category that makes amazing, fancy-colored diamonds accessible to consumers, much like Mikimoto did for the pearl industry.
"A Gemesis Cultured Diamond(TM) is a diamond. We have expanded the opportunity for consumers to experience the beauty and rarity of fancy colored diamonds," said David Hellier, President of The Gemesis Corporation. "By working with Diamonds for Humanity(TM), Gemesis has achieved another historic break-through - the first jewelry line to feature cultured diamonds. Gemesis is honored to partner with Diamonds for Humanity(TM). Consumers can now purchase exceptional diamond jewelry that will also make a powerful contribution to people's lives."
