DIAGEM is pleased to announce the results for week eight of commercial mining operations carried out under an 'experimental mining'permit on the Fazenda Chicoria Diamondiferous Gravel Resource Block No.1, in the Juina Diamond Province, State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. 549 diamonds were recovered for a total of 170.88 carats, including 32 diamonds between 1 and 5 carats and 3 diamonds between 5 and 10 carats (9.70, 8.84 and 5.13 carats). The average diamond size was 0.31 carats. 652 cubic metres of material were processed during the week providing a grade of 0.26 carats per cubic metre.
Production in Week 8 continued to demonstrate consistent diamond grade and processing plant capacity, with proportionally more diamonds being recovered in the 1 to 5 and 5 to 10 carat range. The operating week was restricted to four full operating days due to technical problems with some of the older ancillary equipment, these have now being rectified.
Exploration work is ongoing to substantially expand this resource block, both down stream and upstream. So far, gravel delineation work is encouraging.
