Diagem International Resource Corp. (“Diagem”) is pleased to announce that the Company's diamondiferous gravel exploration activities in the last two months have been concentrated on the Zilza Farm on Property 370/96. Following the success of the initial exploratory bulk sample which returned a grade of 0.27 carats per cu.m., previously reported, the Company undertook and has recently completed and delineated a potential resource block of 750,000 cu.m. of gravels. This was done using auger drilling and simultaneously mapping the content and percentage of the heavy mineral concentrations. A second bulk sample has been completed returning a grade of 0.55 carat per cu.m. from 12 cu.m. of gravel. The sample yielded an extremely good average diamond size of 0.78 carats. The recovered diamonds include stones of 2.28, 1.41 and 1.11 carats, providing a very encouraging early indication of what could prove to be a sizeable resource block.
A program of approximately 10 bulk samples, each of 10-15cu.m. using a 1:5,000 sampling or volumetric ratio, is now required to calculate the in situ resource value for this particular block. The bulk sampling on the Zilza Farm is expected to commence in three to four weeks.
New cooperative working relationship with landowners spawns unprecedented land access.
The success of the above operations on the Zilza Farm, is a result of a land access agreement (the "Agreement") between the Company and the landowner. As a result of the Kimberely Process (See news press release March 31, 2004), the Company has, for the first time, the opportunity to have "friendly" access to many farmlands which, historically, have proven very difficult to enter and to work on. This first Agreement on the Zilza Farm has been a successful test case for the Company, the landowner and regulators alike. The Company is now working with at least 20 other landowners on similar agreements. So far six agreements have been completed, with others being processed on a case by case basis; more are expected to follow.
The continuing success and expansion of this program will overcome a major obstacle that the Company has faced in recent years. It will enable the Company to conduct its exploration activities for both diamondiferous gravels and kimberlite bodies on a regional scale (70 kilometres from West to East), with a level of continuity and efficiency that were not previously possible.
