Diagem Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

MONTREAL (Business Wire) -- The Board of Directors of Diagem Inc. ("Diagem" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:DGM) wishes to announce the appointment of Mr. Denis Francoeur, P.Geo. as Chief Executive Officer of the Company effective March 6, 2006. Mr. Claude Durocher, the current Chief Executive Officer, will retire for personal and family reasons but will continue on as a consultant to the Company.
Mr. Francoeur is a practicing geologist with over 30 years of varied exploration experience in Canada, Central & South America and in Botswana, Africa. His educational background includes M.Sc. and Honours B.Sc. degrees in geology and a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.). From December 2004 to March 2006, he occupied the position of Vice President Exploration with RNC Gold Inc. From 1997 to December 2004, Mr. Francoeur was President, CEO and a Director of Tango Mineral Resources, formerly Southern Africa Minerals Corporation, a company trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he spent 18 years at Noranda in progressively responsible managerial positions in North and South America, including Brazil. During that period he was involved in the discovery of four blind VMS base metal deposits (Norita East, Isle Dieu, Bell Allard South and Orchan West) in the Matagami mining camp and in the discovery of four gold deposits (Silidor, Harker-Holloway, Glimmer gold and Eagle River), in the Abitibi Volcanic Belt of Quebec and Ontario. All but one achieved commercial production. Mr. Francoeur is a practicing member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (P. Geo # 0781), a member and past President of the Association de l'Exploration Miniere du Quebec and a member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. In 1987, Mr. Francoeur and his exploration team were the recipients of the 1987 Prospector of the Year Award of the Quebec Prospectors Association in recognition for the discovery of three new ore bodies in Northwestern Quebec. Mr. Francoeur is fluent in French and English, is articulate in Spanish and has some knowledge of Portuguese.
Diagem Inc. is encouraged by the results obtained from its bulk sampling program of the gravels over its Collier 04 kimberlite pipe in Brazil (see February 17, 2006 Press Release). Diagem is continuing with its broad-front exploration program and has 22 known kimberlites on 130,000 hectares of mineral properties in north western Brazil. Management is optimistic and believes that Diagem shareholders can look forward to an exciting year in Brazil.
