North Star Diamonds, Inc.: Diamond Consultant Dr. Harvey Thorleifson to Assist in Superior Craton Project
- BusinessWire
BELLINGHAM, Wash., Sep 29, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- North Star Diamonds, Inc. (NQB Pink Sheets: NSDM). North Star Diamonds, Inc. is pleased to announce a further addition to the Company's existing team of professional diamond geoscientists. North Star will now be assisted on the "Superior Craton Project" by Dr. Harvey Thorleifson Ph.D., a former research scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada.
Dr. Thorleifson received his B.A. (Hons.) in Geography from the University of Winnipeg and graduate degrees in Quaternary Geology from University of Manitoba (M.Sc.) and University of Colorado (Ph.D.). From 1986 to 2003 he was a research scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada and over the past 12 years, has made major contributions to the geoscience that supports and is integral to diamond exploration. In 1998 he was named Distinguished Lecturer of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
Also, Dr. Thorleifson has served as an officer in many professional organizations, most recently as President of the Geological Association of Canada. He has a varied background in all facets of Quaternary geology with specific expertise in glacial stratigraphy, geomorphology and sedimentology.
In a News Release dated September 24, the Company announced it was finalizing the engineering and logistics to commence the initial drilling program. The Company has identified a cluster of 10 circular magnetic anomalies that are associated to a major north-south structure located at the western margin of the craton. The most prospective magnetic anomalies have been flown by airborne geophysics and the results of the magnetic survey have been critical in generating the first drill targets.
The Company anticipates the commencement of this program in October and, with the valued assistance and expertise of Dr. Thorleifson, is confident of favorable results and that the diamond potential of the "Superior Craton Project" will greatly add shareholder value to North Star.
North Star Diamonds is a rapidly growing company focused on the discovery of commercial diamond deposits in Ukraine and in Canada. North Star Diamonds has exceptional land holdings and a highly skilled management and technical team respected for breaking new ground in the highly competitive diamond industry. The Company's shares trade on the OTC Pink Sheets under the symbol NSDM.
