STAR KIMBERLITE PROJECT-DRILLING COMPLETE
Jonathan Challis, President, is pleased to report that the remaining three of the seven NQ-sized diamond drill holes have now been completed from the Summer 2001 program. Preliminary logging has been completed and representative samples have been chosen for caustic fusion. These holes were designed to provide the data necessary for delineating an area, with a minimum of 200 metres of kimberlite, within the Star body where a representative sample could be taken, either by various large diameter drilling methods, or by sinking a vertical shaft into the kimberlite.
Star 024, Star 025 and Star 026 were all drilled within an area bordered by Star 020 to the west, Star 009 to the northeast, Star 004 to the east, and Star 016 to the southeast. Star 024 was drilled towards Star 009, 90 metres from Star 020 and intersected 155 metres of kimberlite. Star 025 was drilled towards Star 004, 25 metres from Star 020 and intersected 200 metres of kimberlite. The third hole, Star 026, was drilled towards Star 016, 50 metres from Star 020 and intersected 236 metres of kimberlite.
Down hole geophysical surveys, including Natural Gamma Ray Spectrometry, Magnetic Susceptibility, Density Log, and Sonic Log are now being conducted by the Geological Survey of Canada on Star 025, Star 026 and Star 030.
The Star Kimberlite project covers a currently drill defined area of over 4 square kilometres where the kimberlite has a minimum thickness of 30 metres. Preliminary estimates of continuous diamond-bearing kimberlite exceed 400 million tonnes, as indicated by geophysical modelling and substantiated by drill holes.
