Great Western Diamonds Appoints Brent Jellicoe as President and Chief Executive Officer

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Feb 27, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Board of Directors of Great Western Diamonds Corp. (CA:GWD: news, chart, profile) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Brent C. Jellicoe, P.Geo has accepted the position of President and CEO of the Company.

Mr. Jellicoe has been directly involved with all aspects of diamond exploration and project management in the Fort a la Corne area of Saskatchewan since 1993. In 1999, Brent started Jellicoe Resource Associates, a geological consulting firm that served various Saskatchewan diamond exploration interests from 1999 to 2004. Recently, Mr. Jellicoe was the Exploration Manager for Kensington Resources Ltd. where he managed their interest in the Fort a la Corne Joint Venture Diamond Project and helped to facilitate the merger between Kensington and Shore Gold Inc.
