Crystalix Group International Named Authorized Partner; Norwood Announces Strategic Alliance for Patented Crystal Etching Process
THURSDAY , APRIL 15, 2004 06:00 AM
LAS VEGAS, Apr 15, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Crystalix Group International Inc. (OTCBB: CYXG)--Norwood Promotional Products and Laser Design International (LDI) announced today that they have formalized a strategic alliance with Crystalix Group International (CGI). This alliance will create an authorized consortium allowed to use patented technology to produce and sell crystal products with a sub-surface laser etching.
LDI owns the patents (known as the "Clement Patents") that control the creation of sub-surface laser etching within crystal. Norwood has been an exclusive licensee of these patents for many years and Crystalix Group International has been licensed under the patents with Norwood's permission since 2002. The technology is protected by U.S. patent numbers 5,206,496 and 5,637,244 and foreign counterparts. Unlicensed products featuring the patented technology have been sold in the promotional product and retail markets in clear violation of copyright and patent laws. The formalization of the strategic alliance is an effort to send a clear message to the marketplace that only authorized partners are legally allowed to produce and sell these products.
The partnership is creating a proprietary logo that will appear on all authorized products as well as in all Norwood and CGI advertising featuring these products. Other licensees of the Clement Patents will be required by Norwood to use the logo for their licensed products in the United States. Promotional products distributors and retailers can be assured that any crystal product with sub-surface laser etching with this logo is a trusted product protected by patent. In the future, the absence of the logo will be a clear indicator that the product is counterfeit and the manufacturer is in violation of United States patent laws that cover all products sold in the United States regardless of where the products are produced. Norwood will publicize the proprietary logo upon its expected mid-May completion.
Norwood Promotional Products is the world's largest supplier of promotional products. The company offers more than 6,000 products and is a leader in 12 of the industry's 13 major product categories. Norwood's 16 product lines are The Action Line, Air-Tex, Barlow, BTS, Econ-O-Line, Good Value Calendars, Jaffa, Pillowline, RCC Koozie, Sentry Safety, Souvenir, Style-Rite Planners, Symphony Diaries, Tee Off, Triumph Calendars and V-Line.
About Crystalix Group International Inc.

Its engraving process involves the use of a high-resolution digital camera, a laser image scanner, and a laser that is configured together by a standard desktop personal computer, using its proprietary software and a Windows operating system. The laser image scanner converts images from the digital camera, a customer's digital image, or a hard copy photograph into a three-dimensional or two-dimensional digitally formatted image that will be engraved into the center of the crystal by the laser.
