VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 2, 1997--Consolidated Pine Channel (VSE KPG.) -- Mr. Dale W. Hoffman, President of Consolidated Pine Channel Gold Corp. (the "Company"), is very pleased to report that a 10-hole diamond drill program has been completed on the Company's Asbell Bay, Saskatchewan, joint venture property.
The drilling was carried out over what is believed to be a continuous strike length of over 3,000 feet. Mineralization was encountered in all holes, with the two most interesting holes, from visual observations, being DDH-96-6 and DDH-96-10.
DDH-96-6, drilled under the Discovery Zone, encountered mineralization over 130 feet true width, and DDH-96-10, drilled under the Crocodile Zone, encountered mineralization of 60 feet true width, although only assays will determine grade and width. Drill core has been split and sent for assay, and results will be available by mid-month.
Mineralization on surface of the Discovery Zone was very encouraging. The seven samples taken, of fresh material from blasting, each weighing over 2 lbs., averaged 1.12 percent copper, 1.33 percent moly, with 3.59 grams of gold per tonne. Results from trench samples taken north of the Crocodile Zone returned gold values of 0.411 oz/ton over 5.5 feet. -0- CONSOLIDATED PINE CHANNEL GOLD CORP.
