8/3/2004 : Lee Hatch drove his No. 91 CMKXtreme.com/BHRM Motorsports ASA Speed Truck to his tenth win of the season at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino Saturday night
Lee Hatch drove his No. 91 CMKXtreme.com/BHRM Motorsports ASA Speed Truck to victory at Mesa Marin Raceway Saturday Night. Hatch placed his truck on pole breaking the ASA Speed Truck track record at Mesa Marin with a time of 20.478 seconds. Hatch also claimed the Trophy Dash honors before the main event.
"This was our last race of the season at Mesa Marin," said Hatch. "My crew and I decided we were going to take a shot at the track record. We focused on our qualifying set-up more so this race and it really paid off."
With the inversion, Hatch started third on the grid. When the green flag dropped the No. 4 of Terry Young and Hatch took a dominant one-two lead. For 29 laps Hatch battled Young for the lead. The two battled fiercely with door-to-door racing. Finally, Hatch prevailed capturing the number one position and remained there to win the 50-lap event.
"Wow this was some good short track racing tonight," replied Hatch. "It was a lot of fun racing so close with Young. We swapped some paint tonight! I'm not sure what happened when we tangled on the backstretch, but I got off the throttle and came back at him again. A few laps later I was able to make the pass."
Hatch was honored tonight by being chosen for Mesa Marin Inside Motorsports Driver of the Week Award. This TV show honors outstanding drivers each week.
"I had an incredible night tonight," said Hatch. "I want to thank Inside Motorsports for selecting me as the Driver of the Week."
The BHRM Motorsports team sponsored by CMKXtreme.com, Wentzell Equipment Rental, RG Motorsports, RBS Graphics, Faust Printing, Speedway Transmissions and Parker Pumper will head to The Orange Show on July 31, which will be filmed for broadcast on the Outdoor Channel. Hatch is the current 2004 points leader and has won nine of the 10 events this season. He currently holds a 68-point lead.
