Bartone looking to finish the western swing on a high note
SONOMA, pre-race: Tony Bartone will be looking to finish up the NHRA's three-race western swing on a high note this weekend at the 18th annual Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway. The driver of the Jim Dunn Racing/Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil Monte Carlo Funny Car wants to build on the momentum of his quarterfinal finish in Seattle with another strong performance.
Bartone has advance to the quarterfinals at two of the last three events on the POWERade Drag Racing Series tour. The 49-year-old former NHRA Alcohol Funny Car world champion has been improving on his performance all year and the Got CMKX? team is working hard to end the season with a Top 10 finish. Crew chief Jim Dunn has provided Bartone with a quick, consistent race car and the New York native is eager to move up in the championship point chase.
"Jim Dunn and the crew on the Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil Funny Car have done a phenomenal job of providing me with a strong race car," said Bartone. "We've gotten off to a good start on the last half of the season. We've brought on board SOOoo Good International in Seattle and we're excited about their involvement with Jim Dunn Racing. The team's hard work has been paying off. I'd love to reward the team with a victory in Sonoma this weekend."
