Cohen geared up for Sonoma
SONOMA, pre-race: CMKXtreme Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Connie Cohen can hardly wait to return to Infineon Raceway. It was one year ago that she qualified her CMKXtreme Suzuki for her first NHRA national event and the Connecticut resident is hoping to repeat the feat this weekend at the 18th annual Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals.
Cohen has endured an up and down season in 2005. She began the year on a positive note with a career-best performance in Gainesville but a top end incident in Atlanta sidelined her for three races with a broken wrist. Cohen returned to the POWERade Drag Racing Series tour in Denver and she is seeking a strong showing in Sonoma.
Cohen and her husband and crew chief, Marc Cohen, added SOOoo Good International as an associate sponsor on the CMKXtreme Suzuki beginning in Sonoma. Cohen was busy promoting this weekend's Fram Autolite Nationals with an appearance on San Francisco television station KRON channel 4 last Sunday. She will also participate in a go-kart race Thursday afternoon, July 28th. Cohen will join several Pro Stock Bike competitors as they square off against listeners of San Francisco radio station LIVE 105.
"Its been an exciting week for our team," offered Cohen. "We generated a lot of good exposure for CMKX with our television appearance on Sunday and we really had a great time. We also are proud to welcome aboard SOOoo Good International as an associate sponsor beginning here in Sonoma. My wrist has gotten much stronger and it's feeling better everyday. We're feeling very positive this weekend and I think we have a good shot at putting the CMKXtreme Suzuki in the show."
