Mountain Province Mining Inc. announcement
ONTARIO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 1997--Mountain Province Mining Inc. (NASDAQ:MPVIF) and Camphor Ventures Inc. (VcSE:CFV) announce that they have been advised that a court order (the "Order") has been obtained in the Supreme Court of British Columbia by Inukshuk Capital Ltd., a company of which John Dupuis is the sole director and officer, enjoining them from transferring an interest in their 60% controlled AK-CJ claims (the "Claims") in the Northwest Territories.
On March 7, 1997, Mountain Province, Camphor and 444965 B.C. Ltd. ("444965"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenmore Highlands Inc., announced a joint venture with Monopros Limited pursuant to which Monopros can earn an interest in the Claims. The Order also enjoins 444965 from dealing with its 40% interest in the Claims.
The Order was obtained without prior notice to owners of the Claims, in a hearing at which none of them was present. In its application to the Court, Inukshuk alleged that the Order was necessary in order to protect a right of first refusal over the Claims which Inukshuk intends to pursue in arbitration proceedings. However, the Court was not advised that Inukshuk's right of first refusal expired in November 1994.
Mountain Province and Camphor have instructed legal counsel to take all action necessary to permit them to proceed as quickly as possible with the Monopros joint venture. -0- On behalf of the board of On behalf of the board of MOUNTAIN PROVINCE MINING INC.
